From " The Outline of Literature"
I found these pages in an old subscription publication covering Literature, Art, etc. I thought the content might be a bit fusty as it was written by John Drinkwater around 1920. However, I think it is a good read with lovely examples of Swinburne's poetry. Having read the piece, I am surprised his poems aren't celebrated more.
In Swinburne's lifetime, he was considered the equivalent of Byron and perhaps Mick Jagger, as he mixed with some of the great and not-so-good of the day.
He is buried at the Parish Church in Bonchurch with all his family in very distinguished tombs in the graveyard.
