Dear friends and neighbours,

You are warmly invited to join us on Remembrance Sunday, 9 November. We’ll gather at the church from 10.45am, and together we’ll walk out to the cenotaph where the trumpet will sound the Last Post. The service will continue with the laying of wreaths, a minute’s silence, and prayers for all who have served and sacrificed.

Afterwards, we’ll return into the church for the remainder of the service, followed by refreshments – a chance to share memories and conversation together.

Remembrance Sunday is marked across the country each year, close to Armistice Day, when the First World War came to an end in 1918. It’s a time for us here on the Island, as in villages everywhere, to pause and give thanks for those who gave so much, and to hold onto hope for peace.
