Every July, Bonchurch comes to life for its much-loved Open Gardens Weekend, a tradition organised by the Bonchurch Community Association to celebrate the village’s beauty and raise funds for local projects. For years, generous garden owners have opened their gates, offering visitors a chance to wander through hidden gems and enjoy everything from lush borders to shady pathways — all while supporting a great cause. With strawberry cream teas, a friendly shuttle bus, and a real sense of community spirit, it’s a weekend many look forward to year after year. Don’t miss the display of event promo cards from previous years, carefully created by BCA Committee member Brian Lucas — a lovely nod to the history and creativity behind this special event.
