Bonchurch Open Gardens 2024.
Every summer, Bonchurch blooms with colour, charm, and community spirit during the much-loved Open Gardens Weekend. In July 2024, visitors were invited to explore 17 unique gardens — from the tucked-away tranquillity of Elcombe House and St Bede’s, to the breathtaking sea views from Cliff Cottage and Cliff Dene, and the vibrant charm of places like UnderRock, Spring Cottage, and the St Boniface Fields Allotments. Each garden offered something different, whether it was a quirky layout, hidden views, or lush planting schemes. The shuttle bus helped visitors hop between gardens with ease, while many paused for a delicious Strawberry Cream Tea at Spring Vale, served all afternoon. Entry fees supported both local projects coordinated by the BCA, helping to care for the village and those in need. This was the year after the major landslip in Bonchurch, and yet so many people came out to support the event and enjoy the beautiful gardens that make our village so special. It was a beautiful weekend full of smiles, nature, and neighbourly cheer — a true celebration of Bonchurch at its best.
